HOW TO STYLE A GINGHAM MIDI SKIRT: 5 IDEAS

April 10, 2022

Ok, I fell in love with a gingham skirt lately and I've been thinking of the endless possibilities to style it.

I truly believe that a gingham midi skirt is an extremely versatile piece that is easy to style all year round and fits different styles and occasions.

It is perfect if you love the Parisian style and it is also perfect if you are more of a rocker, you can wear it during the day or for a date night, to a party or to a reunion with your friends.

If you feel uninspired or you are looking for some ideas here you can find 5 ways to style it.

Parisian look

This look is very easy to replicate.

I am almost 100% sure that you already have a white shirt in your wardrobe. Tuck it into your gingham skirt and add some red accessories, the flat slingback with a pointed toe will be very comfy even if you need to walk long distances and the red scarf will be perfect to hold your hair into a ponytail. Or you can wear it on your neck for a very chic touch.

Finish the look with a red lipstick and don’t forget a red nail polish.

Rock and colourful

Do you like strong elements in your looks and do you feel a gingham skirt is too chic and pretty for your taste? Style it with your favourite band t-shirt or any other graphic t-shirts preferably in black or dark grey, and add a leather jacket and your favourite bicker boots.

If you love colour and you want to introduce some in your look swap your biker boots for some colourful converse and add the accessories in the same tone. In this case I went for the trendy colour of the moment: green.

Practical and fun

Are practicality and comfort a must for you?

Style your gingham skirt with a denim shirt tucked into the skirt waist or tied at the front, and add some comfy Adidas, perfect for a walk in the city. Finish the look with a statement necklace in pink, purple and red, a pink bag and a magenta nail polish to speak about your magnetic and determined personality.

Chic and sophisticated

If you prefer a black and white look and you would describe your style as classic and chic with a romantic twist, style your gingham skirt with a black jumper, some elegant black stilettos and a black clutch bag.

If you are aiming for a more casual look swap the stilettos for some white trainers and the clutch back for a sleek black backpack. Add some magenta earrings and a magenta nail polish for a touch of colour. You will look very chic and sophisticated.

Colours explosion

Do you describe your style as eclectic and creative and do you love your outfits to match your fun personality?

Team your skirt with a colourful graphic t-shirt and choose three of the colours in it to help you to pick your accessories. In this case I chose the blue colour for a pair of block heel sandals, yellow for the bag and red for the earrings and the nail polish. This will be a great look for the warmer days in the late spring.

I hope you liked these looks and you got inspired to create your own!

See you next time! x
